Big day from Sommer helps lead Colts to a sweep of Delaware

CHESTER, PA (April 13, 2021) – Chris Sommer went 7-9 with 5RBI and 2 doubles to help power the Colts to a sweep over Delaware County Community College.

Game 1 (13-1 Win) – Jaden Ojeda (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) earned the win on the mound throwing 4 shutout innings only allowing 2 hits and striking out 8. Jake Ferraro (Rahway, NJ/Rahway) came on in relief to retire all 6 batters he faced. In the 6th, Ferraro tossed an immaculate inning by striking out the side on 9 pitches. Jack Calabrese (Edison, NJ/Edison) sealed the victory by throwing the final inning of the game. The 11 run 3rd inning proved more than enough offense for Middlesex. Chris Sommer (Edison, NJ/Edison) had 3 hits, including a double and 2rbi. Bryan Fernandez (Sayreville, NJ/Sayreville), Josh Hernandez (West Palm Beach, FL/Park Vista), Tyler Sharfetz (Fords, NJ/John F. Kennedy), and Angel Cora (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) all had 2 RBI respectively.

Game 2 (19-8 Win) – Dante Duarte (Union City, NJ/Union City) picked up the victory on the mound tossing 4.2 innings allowing 4 earned runs while striking out 6. Louie Folgore (Monroe, NJ/Monroe) and Zachary Honimar (South Amboy, NJ/South Amboy) finished out the final 2.1 innings to close out the game. Sommer added another 4 hits and 3RBI, while Hernandez drove in 4 and Christian Petrillo (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) had 3 doubles, 3rbi and 4 runs scored.
