SALVESEN, FOLGORE HURL COMBINED SHUTOUT AS MIDDLESEX TOPS SULLIVAN CC 8-0

Shayne Salvesen and Louie Folgore combined on a three-hit shutout and Tyler Johnson belted a two-run homer as Middlesex College knocked off Sullivan CC 8-0 at The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach.

The Colts (9-4) have won three out of four in Myrtle Beach and have won seven of their past eight games.

Middlesex got started early when Christian Petrillo (Freshman/North Brunswick, NJ) singled leading off the first. He stole second and eventually came arouind to score the Colts first run on a wild pitch. Middlesex added a second rin in the first when Jordan Brown (Freshman/Piscataway, NJ) singled home Braden Ramirez (Freshman/Middlesex, NJ). 

The Colts scored three in the second with the big hit coming off the bat of Christopher Born (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ). Born's triple drove home Connor Luckie (Freshman/Hamilton, NJ) and Vincent Powers (Freshman/Colonia, NJ), each of whom singled. 

Middlesex increased their lead to 6-0 in the third when Kiefer Goss (Freshman/Hamilton, NJ) was hit by a pitch with one out. Goss stole second and came home on an RBI single by Luckie, his second in as many innings.

Middlesex added two insurance runs in the seventh on Johnson's two-run blast, his first homer of the season.

While the Colts were producing on offense, Salvesen was in command on the mound. The freshman righty from Old Bridge gave up just two singles in the third and a triple in the sixth in blanking the Generals over 5.1 innings. Salvesen struck out 10 to pick up his first win of the season. 

The Colts had 10 hits on the afternoon with Luckie and Brown each recording two-hit games. Middlesex was 4-4 in stolen bases and is now 33-35 on steals for the season. Their trip continues Tuesday when they take on the College of Southern Maryland at 9:00AM.
