O'HALLORAN, LUCKIE COMBINE FOR 10 HITS, 9 RBI AS MIDDLESEX BASEBALL ROUTS RARITAN VALLEY 25-9

Thomas O'Halloran went 6-7 with five runs scored and two triples and Connor Luckie went 4-5 with 5 RBIs as Middlesex College Baseball scored 12 runs in the final two innings to defeat Raritan Valley 25-9.

Thomas Niedermaier (Sophomore/Bordentown, NJ) went the first six innings on the mound and picked up his first win of the season.

The Colts (13-6) got things started in the first when O'Halloran scored on an RBI single by Luckie. Kiefer Goss (Sophomore/Hamilton, NJ) scored on a wild pitch to bring home the second run.

Raritan Valley struck for three runs in the bottom of the first, but Middlesex took the lead back with a six-run second. Goss and Giovanni Aresta (Sophomore/Old Bridge, NJ) each had two-run singles in the inning.

The Colts added four runs in the third and again, O'Halloran, Luckie and Goss were the catalysts. O'Halloran knocked in Nathaniel Friedman (Freshman/Clifton, NJ) and Colby Chippendale (Sophomore/North Port, FL) with a single while Goss and Luckie had their own RBI hits.

Raritan plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but the Colts answered back in the seventh on a Luckie home run and Braden Ramirez (Sophomore/Middlesex, NJ) sacrifice fly. Luckie's home run, a two-run shot, was his second on the season.

After Raritan scored four in the bottom of the seventh, Middlesex erupted for nine runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

Roberto Gonzalez (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) doubled in two runs and O'Halloran tripled with two men on base for the big hits in the inning.

The Colts banged out 22 hits and were buoyed by nine Raritan errors and seven walks in the game. In addition to O'Halloran and Luckie, Goss, Gonzalez and Chippendale each had multi-hit games. Goss drove in four runs and Chippendale, Luckie and Jordan Brown (Sophomore/Piscataway, NJ) each scored three runs.

The win was the fourth straight for the Colts who are scheduled to take on RCSJ-Cumberland in a three game series this weekend, pending weather. The first game is scheduled for Friday at 3:30 at Cumberland and then a home doubleheader is tentatively scheduled for Saturday at noon in Edison.
