Middlesex College Baseball has been among the top NJCAA Division III teams in the country over the past two seasons, racking up a 58-30 record over the past year and a half thanks largely to an aggressive offense and strong pitching.
The two leaders of the pitching staff during this run have been sophomores Gage Bendix and Ryan Pozo and they recently announced that they will be continuing their college careers on the next level as teammates as well.
The pitchers will join former teammate Christian Petrillo (Class of 2022) at Goldey-Beacom University, an NCAA Division II program in Delaware. Goldey-Beacom is currently 21-11 and has the most wins in the 11-team Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

He has struck out 140 over 132.1 innings and has allowed just 57 earned runs in his career. He is enjoying a solid 2023 with a record of 5-1 and 3.32 ERA while averaging more than 10 strikeouts per nine innings.
Bendix, a versatile sophomore from Piscataway, New Jersey has worked as both a starter and reliever while competing for the Colts. He has appeared in 28 games on the mound over the past two seasons, 13 of them as a starter. Over 101.1 innings, Bendix is 12-2 with two saves and a 2.66 ERA. He has been fantastic this season with a record of 5-0 with two saves and a 1.62 ERA. His ERA total is fourth-best in the nation among NJCAA Division III pitchers with at least 35 innings pitched.
Petrillo, who was a First-Team All-Region XIX outfielder for the Colts in 2022, has been one of the top players at Goldey-Beacom after transferring there from Middlesex. Petrillo currently leads the Lightning with a .356 batting average and as of today is in the top ten of the CACC in batting, hits (42), runs (32), stolen bases (19) and on base percentage (.454).
