COLTS WRAP REGULAR SEASON WITH VITAL 75-50 WIN OVER CC MORRIS

Hyshon Cannon notched his fourth double-double of the season and Amir Abdullah scored 16 points as Middlesex College cruised to a crucial 75-50 win over County College of Morris in their regular season finale.

The win clinched a winning season for Middlesex and put the Colts in position to claim the #2 seed in the upcoming Region 19 Tournament. Mercer CC will serve as the #1 seed in the tournament. The Colts split their regular season games with Mercer. Official tournament brackets are expected to be released on Friday, February 20.

Morris and Middlesex came into their game tied for second place in Region 19 with the Colts holding a win over the Titans from earlier in the season. Middlesex took control of the big game from the start using a suffocating defense to build a 34-19 halftime lead. The Colts held Morris to single digits until there was less than five minutes left in the first half.

Morris found more success on the offensive side of things in the second half, but the Colts increased their output as well, and outscored the Titans 41-31 in the second half on their way to the 25-point victory.

Cannon was the key player for the Colts, scoring a team-high 17 points and grabbing 15 rebounds, 14 of which came on the defensive end. Abdullah also had a solid all-around game for the Colts. In addition to his 16 points, he led the team with 9 assists and hit all six of his free throws while going 5-9 from the field.

Hashim Nadir led the Colts subs with 11 points off the bench.

As the regular season comes to a close, the field has just about taken shape for the Region 19 Tournament, which will be held at Lackawanna College beginning Thursday, February 26. Should the Colts win their semifinal game on Thursday, they would play in the Region 19 championship game on Saturday, February 28 at a time yet to be determined.
