FOUAD, VASSALLO LEAD MIDDLESEX IN 4-0 SHUTOUT OVER RARITAN VALLEY

Marwan Fouad scored two first half goals and Jayson Vassallo registerted six saves across 70 shutout minutes in goal as Middlesex College topped Raritan Valley Community College 4-0 in Men's Soccer action.

Middlesex is now 3-4-2 on the season with all three wins coming via shutout. Raritan Valley fell to 2-3 on the season.

"We were very disciplined on defense," said Head Coach Javier Velasco. "We were able toc onvert our scoring chances and I though we played very well overall. It was a very good outcome for us. I am happy with the way we played."

Fouad (Freshman/South Brunswick, NJ) got the scoring started less than ten minutes into the match when he beat the keeper on a shot from the outside off an assist from Jamie Madrid (Freshman/Perth Amboy,NJ). Minutes later, Fouad converted a pass from Matias Barreiros (Freshman/Sayreville,NJ) to give the Colts a 2-0 lead which they would carry into the half.

George Mangandi (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) teamed up with Madrid on a beautiful goal to extend the Colts lead early in the second half. Madrid lofted a pass from the corner to Mangandi who headed the ball up and over Raritan Valley's keeper, who had started to come off the goal line towards the pass. It was Magnandi's second goal of the year.

Madrid capped the scoring on the day when eh converted a penalty kick for his second goal of the season.

Vassallo started in goal for the Colts and had six saves in 70 minutes before being lifted for Ali Mansour, who played the final 20 minutes in net. 

Middlesex is off this weekend before returning to action Tuesday. They are currently scheduled to face Drew University for a 3:30 home match.
