Middlesex College fought valiantly but fell 2-1 to Camden County College, the nation's fourth ranked NJCAA D3 Men's Soccer team.
The Colts (6-5-2) had perhaps the best scoring chance for either team late in the contest, but an open shot just outside the six yard line sailed over the net.
The Cougars (9-1-2) got on the board first early when a shot off a corner kick deflected off a stationary player and into the corner of the net.
The game remined 1-0 for the majority of the time and Camden extended their lead with less than 15 minutes left.
Middlesex applied pressure from there and finally broke through when George Mangandi (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) converted a pass from Claudio Lopez (Freshman/Dunellen, NJ). It was Mangandi's seventh goal and the third straight game in which he scored.
Jeremy Madrid (Freshman/Perth Amboy, NJ) started in goal for the Colts and registered five saves. Jayson Vassallo (Freshman/South River, NJ) played 10 minutes in goal and registered two saves before leaving with an injury.
Middlesex College has three regular season games remaining, all of which come on the road. They will return to the pitch on Thursday when they travel to RCSJ-Gloucester for a 4:00pm kickoff.
