MIDDLESEX COLLEGE MENS SOCCER NAMES CAPTAINS FOR 2022

Middlesex College Men's Soccer Head Coach Javier Velasco is pleased and proud to announce his captains for our 2022-2023 season.

They are midfielder Jaime Madrid, goalkeeper Jeremy Madrid and defender Michael Esteves.

"These three players have shown commitment and hard work during the season and during the off season," said Velasco. "But most important, they did a great job in the classroom. We look forward to seeing them lead our program into a successful season. Congratulations gentlemen and Go Colts!"

Jamie Madrid (Freshman/Perth Amboy, NJ) played in all 16 games last season for the Colts and was a key part of the team's attack. He started 15 games as a freshman in the midfield and and scored three goals with six assists. His assist total was second on the team.

His brother Jeremy Madrid (Freshman/Peerth Amboy, NJ) played 12 games in net for the Colts, starting nine of them. He allowed just eight goals all season for a 0.97 goals against average. He was credited with four wins and a tie on his ledger.

Estevez (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) was another key member of a solid Colts side in 2021 and has worked hard this offseason to build on a successful freshman campaign. Last year, Estevez started 14 games for the Colts and had one goal.

The Colts are coming off an impressive season that saw the squad miss the playoffs on the last day of the season. The Colts record was 6-8-2 with six of those losses coming by one goal. It was a big improvement over the previous two seasons which the team won a combined seven games.

Velasco returns many key players from last year's squad in addition to his captains. He also has high expectations for an impressive recruiting class. Middlesex College returns to the pitch in late August for what appears to be an exciting 2022 season.
