MIDDLESEX COLLEGE MENS SOCCER STAR JAMIE MADRID NAMED NJCAA FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN
The accolades keep coming in for Middlesex College Men's Soccer standout Jamie Madrid.
After being named the Region XIX Player of the Year recently, Madrid picked up the highest honor a Men's Soccer player could receive on the NJCAA Division III level.
A sophomore from Perth Amboy, Madrid was named a First-Team All-American midfielder by the NJCAA after a stellar season in which he led the Colts to an 11-4-1 record.
"I am very proud of Jamie; this is an amazing accomplishment," said Middlesex College Head Coach Javier Velasco. "He worked hard during the offseason and during the season as well. He deserves this recognition."
Madrid, a forward from Perth Amboy, was third in the region in goals (11) and points (29).
Madrid registered four two-goal games this season including a streak where he scored six goals and had three assists in a span of four games over nine days. The Colts went 3-0-1 over those games.
Madrid registered six points in a 6-2 win over Bucks CC with two goals and two assists. He had two four-point games as well.
In addition to his success on the field, Madrid has also been an exemplary leader for the Colts.
"He is a great role model for our younger players," said Velasco. "He showed that anything is possible with hard work, discipline and commitment."
Madrid was the lone representative from Region XIX on the First Team. He is the first Middlesex College Men's Soccer player to be named First Team All-American since Woody LaPointe in 1998 and the first to receive any type of All-American honors since Douglas Musya in 2005.
