#11 MIDDLESEX COLLEGE MEN'S SOCCER PICKS UP KEY 4-1 WIN OVER BROOKDALE CC

Middlesex College overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit with an offensive onslaught in the second half as the Colts topped visiting Brookdale CC by a score of 4-1.

The win kept Middlesex undefeated on the season at 3-0-1 while Brookdale suffered their first loss and is now 1-1. The Colts were ranked #11 in the latest NJCAA National Poll after the victory.

Against Brookdale, Middlesex fell behind 1-0 when a header from Jorge Cruz found the back of the net in the 22nd minute. While the Colts had some chances in the first half, they failed to capitalize and went into the break down 1-0.

Middlesex got the equalizer in the 52nd minute when Isaiah Scott (Piscataway, NJ) converted a penalty kick for his third goal of the season.

About ten minutes later, Jayvian Mandry (Freshman/Avenel, NJ) gave the Colts the lead when he diced through multiple Brookdale defenders and converted a shot at close range.

Middlesex added goals from Joseph Garcia (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) and Uziel Alache (Sophomore/Parlin, NJ) in the closing minutes as insurance as Middlesex closed out their first win over the Jersey Blues since a 3-0 win during the 2020 season, which was pushed to the spring of 2021 due to Covid.

Samuel Rodriguez picked up two assists in the game while Mandry and Alache assisted on the others.

Maksym Hrunskyi picked up the win in goal for Middlesex with a stellar performance. The freshman from East Brunswick turned away five Brookdale shots on goal, making multiple key saves to keep the game at 1-0 while the Colts offense kicked into gear.

Middlesex returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Sussex CC for a Region 19 showdown starting at 4:00PM.
