MIDDLESEX COLLEGE UPENDS #8 RCSJ-GLOUCESTER 2-0

Joseph Garcia scored his fourth goal of the season in the 78th minute to break a scoreless tie and Sebastian Grisales turned away all five shots he faced as Middlesex College pulled off a huge 2-0 Region 19 road win at #8 RCSJ-Gloucester.

The win bolstered the Colts record to 4-2-1 on the season while RCSJ-Gloucester fell to 4-2-1.

The game was an evenly matched rematch of last season's Region 19 semifinal contest, which was incredibly tightly played and had to be resolved in penalty kicks after two periods of scoreless overtime.

Once again this season, the game was a tightly contested defensive match with neither team able to find the goal through the first 77 minutes. Garcia, a freshman forward from South Plainfield, NJ, scored for the fourth time in his past five games to give Middlesex a slim one-goal lead.

Although slim, it was the only goal Grisales would need in support as the freshman keeper from Rahway, NJ, stopped the few threats from the Roadrunners that he faced.

Middlesex added a second goal on a converted penalty kick from Isaiah Scott (Sophomore/Piscataway, NJ) in the 88th minute to nail down the 2-0 win.

The Colts return to action Saturday when they travel to Delaware County CC for a 2:00PM match.
