McCarthy Sparkles as the Lady Colts Sweep Northampton

Kaitlynne McCarthy (Woodbridge H.S.) fired complete game shutouts in both ends of the doubleheader as the Lady Colts defeated Northampton C.C. by scores of 11-0 and 3-0 in Edison on Friday.

McCarthy allowed only a fourth inning single, while striking out 5 and walking 1, in leading the Lady Colts to a 5 – inning, 11-0 victory, in game 1. She also contributed 2 doubles and 2 RBI's to the offensive attack. Angelina Amato (Piscataway H.S.) and Julie Davis (So. Plaifield H.S.) also had 2 RBI's each. Alida Pellicane (Edison H.S.) collected 3 hits and scored 2 runs. Chloe Oblepias (Carteret H.S.) and Jennah Schiraldo (Carteret H.S.) also scored 2 runs in the game.

In game 2, McCarthy allowed only 2 hits and recorded 7 strikeouts over 7 innings, in leading the Lady Colts to the 3-0 victory.  Schiraldo led the Colts offense with 2 hits, and Pellicane collected 2 RBI's.

The Lady Colts played near flawless defense behind McCarthy, committing only 1error in each game of the doubleheader.

 The Lady Colts return home on Tuesday for a doubleheader against Camden C.C., beginning at 3:30 pm. With 2 weeks left in the regular season, the Colts close out their schedule with 6 out of their final 8 games against conference opponents. The Colts are currently in second place in the conference, and post-season play begins the week of May 10.
