LADY COLTS SPLIT WITH CAMDEN C.C. IN EDISON

The Lady Colts allowed 3 unearned runs in the second inning, and once again ended the game with the tying and winning runs on base in the bottom of the 7th inning, in dropping the opener 3-2 to Camden C.C. It is the 6th game this year that the Colts have lost where the game has ended with the tying or winning run in scoring position. In the nightcap the Colts banged out 13 hits to defeat Camden C.C. by a score of 9-6. The season record now stands at 8-14.

In the opener, the Lady Colts jumped out a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a triple by Madison Buttitta (J.F. Kennedy H.S.) and a sac fly by Jennah Schiraldo (Carteret H.S.). The lead evaporated in the third inning as an infield error led to 3 unearned runs, and the Colts only managed to record 5 hits, as a 7th inning rally fell short. Buttitta led the Colts offense with 3 hits, an RBI, and a run scored. Kaitlynne McCarthy was the hard luck loser, allowing 0 earned runs, in going the distance.

The Lady Colts offense erupted for 13 hits in game 2. Buttitta once again led the way with 3 hits, including a triple, and scored 2 runs. Jessica Freeman (Carteret H.S.) recorded 2 doubles and 2 RBI's, and Angelina Amato (Piscataway H.S.) and Chloe Oblepias (Carteret H.S.) both had 2 hits and an RBI. Alyssa Dima (Manville H.S.) collected her first collegiate hit in the victory. Kaitlynne McCarthy was the winning pitcher, striking out 6 in the complete game.

With the split, the Lady Colts Region XIX record now stands at 4-4, good for second place in the current standings.
