MIDDLESEX COLLEGE SWEEPS NORTHAMPTON, MOVES TO 12-1
Middlesex College collected ten hits in Game 1 and eight hits in Game 2 en route to two five inning victories in sweeping Northampton CC in Bethlehem, PA.
Kaitlynne McCarthy (Sophomore/Woodbridge, NJ) picked up the victories in both games - as the starting pitcher in game one and as a relief pitcher in game two.
The Colts are now 12-1 on the season.
Destiny Gonzalez (Freshman/Sayreville,NJ) and Alyssa Dima (Sophomore/Manville,NJ) collected two hits each, along with Olivia Tirso (Freshman/Elizabeth,NJ), who also added three RBIs.
Chloe Oblepias (Sophomore/Carteret, NJ) and Jennah Schiraldo (Sophomore/Carteret,NJ) contributed two RBIs apiece. Julie Davis (Sophomore/South Plainfield, NJ hit her first collegiate home run to support the 5- hit pitching of McCarthy, as the Colts win game one by a score of12-1.
McCarthy also picked up the 11-3 victory in the circle in game two, entering in relief of Dima in the second inning with the bases loaded, and induced a fly out to end the inning. Abigail Jason (Sophomore/Edison, NJ) collected three hits and four RBIs to pace the offense. Davis added two hits and an RBI, and Schiraldo also contributed two RBIs.
The Colts return home on Thursday to take on conference foe Sussex CC in a doubleheader starting at 3:30pm.
