RCSJ-GLOUCESTER SWEEPS MIDDLESEX COLLEGE SOFTBALL

Middlesex College softball collected ten hits in each game, but it wasn't enough to outscore the offensive attack from RCSJ-Gloucester, the #6 team in the country, as the Colts were swept by the Roadrunners 9-6 and 10-2.

I game one, Middlesex led 5-3 in the 6th inning, but RCSJ-Gloucester rallied for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for a comeback win.

Summer Ramirez (Freshman/South Brunswick, NJ), making her second career start in the circle, took the hard-luck loss. She walked one and allowed just three earned runs.

Rebecca Ortiz (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) had two hits and scored three runs, Madison Szatkowski (Freshman/Sayreville, NJ) went 2-4 with an RBI and Carla Seyfarth (Freshman/South Plainfield, NJ) went 2-2 with two doubles, a run, an RBI and two walks.

Jennah Schiraldo (Sophomore/Carteret, NJ) went 1-4 with three RBIs. Marissa Lugo (Freshman/Iseline, NJ) added a triple and Rebecca Abbatemarco (Freshman/ Edison, NJ) contributed an RBI.

In Game 2, the Colts were down 6-2 in the 6th when the game was delayed for an hour by lightning in the area. When play resumed RCSJ-Gloucester scored four in the bottom of the inning to end the game.

Lugo took the loss, but she collected two doubles to aid the offense.  Schiraldo went 2-3 with a double and an RBI and Kaylen Tavarez (Freshman/Edison, NJ) also went 2-2 with a double. Ramirez added a double and Seyfarth contributed a triple as the Colts collected six extra base hits.

The Colts are back in action on Tuesday, traveling to Monmouth County to take on nationally ranked Brookdale CC. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30PM.
