MIDDLESEX COLLEGE SOFTBALL STAR KAYLIN NEPTON NAMED NJCAA 1ST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN
Middlesex College Softball is coming off a historic season and the accolades continue to roll in for the squad.
Sophomore Kaylin Nepton has been named a First Team All-American outfielder by the NJCAA after a terrific season for the Colts.
"This is such a tremendous honor for Kaylin and I couldn't be happier for her," said Director of Athletics Rocco Constantino. "She's the ultimate team player who will always do whatever is in the best interest of the team. She hits the ball hard, is great baserunner and plays tremendous defense wherever Coach Muldowney had her in the field."
Nepton was the only student-athlete from the state of New Jersey to be named First Team All-American and is the first NJCAA First Team All-American since Susan Campbell in 1998.
Mariana Remotti (2001), Kelly Heffernan (2001) and Kiera Zimmerman (2005) were also previously named First Team All-American by the NFCA for Middlesex College.
Nepton primarily played outfield for the Colts in 2024, but also saw time behind the plate at catcher. She batted .439 (43-109) while driving in 36 runs and scoring another 33 herself. Nepton started the season by hitting safely in 17 of the Colts first 18 games. She had 13 multi-hit games including a 5-6 effort against Bucks CC.
A smooth centerfielder with great range, Nepton committed just two errors all season. Middlesex finished the season and was ranked as high as #7 in the NJCAA National Poll. They finished the regular season tied for first place in Region 19 with RCSJ-Gloucester with a region record of 14-2 and an overall record of 24-7.
This is the second straight year in which a Middlesex College student-athlete was named First Team All-American in their sport as Nepton joined Men's Soccer player Jamie Madrid who received that honor last year.
"It's been great to see Middlesex College students and teams recognized on the national stage," said Constantino. "In just the past few years we've had two First Team All-Americans, multiple National Champion track athletes, six NJCAA National Players of the Week and just about every one of our teams have been ranked in the NJCAA National Polls at one point over that time. We know how great we have it here at Middlesex, so I really think it's fantastic that the rest of the country sees that too."
