Bio
Coach Kjersgaard is the longest-tenured member of our coaching staff as she enters her ninth season with the Lady Colts softball program. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, having spent the past 15 years coaching in various roles for travel programs across central New Jersey. Specializing in pitching, she works closely with our staff—preparing them daily in practice and providing both mental and physical support during games. Beyond her work with pitchers, she plays a vital role in the program’s overall operations, helping the coaching staff function at peak efficiency.
Her contributions have been instrumental in the Colts recent success. In 2021, the team finished the regular season at 14-14 and secured the No. 2 seed in the Region 19 tournament. The following year, the Lady Colts posted a 21-6 regular season record, earning the No. 3 seed in the Region 19 tournament. That season culminated in a historic 2-0 victory over RCSJ-Gloucester in the championship game—marking the program’s first title in 41 years. The win secured a spot in the NJCAA Division III National Championship Series in Syracuse, New York. The Colts finished the season with a 23-10 record, the second-most wins in school history, and achieved their highest-ever national ranking at No. 8.
Under Coach Kjersgaard’s guidance, the Colts pitching staff has thrived. Over the past two seasons, two pitchers have thrown no-hitters and earned Player of the Week honors from the Garden State Athletic Conference and NJCAA. In 2022, the team’s top pitcher was named Region 19 MVP, and the staff posted the lowest ERA in the nation by the end of the regular season.
The 2024 season saw the Colts reach new heights. The team finished the regular season with a 23-7 record, tied for first place in Region 19 with a 14-2 record, and ended the year ranked No. 7 nationally. Both of the Colts pitchers earned Second Team All-Region honors, and the staff as a whole finished third in the nation in team ERA.
Coach Kjersgaard’s connection to Middlesex runs deep—her daughter, Carly, is a 2018 graduate who earned Second Team All-American honors and still holds program records for single-season batting average (.614) and career batting average (.537).
A graduate of Woodbridge High School, Coach Kjersgaard currently resides in the Hopelawn section of Woodbridge Township with her husband and daughter.
