MIDDLESEX COLLEGE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOPS BROOKDALE IN SEASON OPENER
Middlesex College Women's Basketball used a suffocating defense and Kendall Dixon led the Colts with 18 points in her collegiate debut as Middlesex topped Brookdale CC 54-36 in a season-opening win.
Brookdale started the game on a hot streak and outscored Middlesex 18-12 in the first quarter, but once the game settled in, so did the Colts defense. Middlesex held the Jersey Blues to just 18 points in the remaining three quarters as their offense got going as well.
The Colts built a 27-22 halftime lead and then outscored Brookdale 27-14 in the second half as they pulled away for the win.
In addition to her game-high 18 points, Dixon also added six rebounds.
Jaylah Boyd (Freshman/Linden, NJ) scored 13 and grabbed 8 rebounds for the Colts as well.
Zuhirah Kelley (Freshman/Linden, NJ) led Middlesex with 16 rebounds, 9 of which came on the defensive end.
Na'Dirah Evans (Freshman/Plainfield, NJ) was a key defender off the bench for Middlesex, notching 7 rebounds with 4 steals and 3 blocks in just 17 minutes of play.
Middlesex returns to action on Thursday, November 6 when they host Atlantic Cape CC. Tipoff is set for 5:00PM.
