SINGLETON NETS CAREER-HIGH 32 IN 82-46 WIN OVER LACKAWANNA
Genilah Singleton scored a career-high 32 points and Gabriella Nieves went for 17 points and 9 rebounds as Middlesex College topped Lackawanna College 82-46 in Region 19 Women's Basketball action.
The win was the fourth in the past six games for the Colts, who swept the season series against Lackawanna.
Middlesex was bolstered by a fast start in which they outscored the Falcons 27-14 in the first quarter. The Colts played lockdown defense in the second quarter, holding Lackawanna to just two points in the quarter as they built a 46-16 halftime lead.
Middlesex outscored Lackawanna 36-30 in a closer second half on the way to a 36-point victory.
The story of the game was the sophomore Singleton, who went 12-16 from the floor including 3-6 from three-point range. Her previous career high was a 21-point effort against Montgomery College of Maryland in December. She also grabbed 8 rebounds and had 2 steals and 2 assists against Lackawanna.
Kendall Dixon and Daziya Hudson each scored 10 points for the Colts as well. The 81 points scored by Middlesex was the second highest total they have scored this year. They scored 92 in their first game of 2026 against SUNY Orange.
Middlesex will return to the court Tuesday when they take on Essex CC in a pivotal Region 19 matchup. The game will serve as their annual Pink Night game for cancer awareness. This year's honoree will be James Dixon, the father of freshman guard Kendall Dixon. In addition, there will be a Rededication Ceremony for the newly renovated gym at 4:00PM prior to the games. The Pink Night ceremony is slated to take place at 4:45. Both ceremonies are open to the public.
