Michel Powell

Head Coach

Middlesex College Colts Basketball

A graduate of St. Mary’s of The Assumption, Michel Powell played basketball for two-years at Union County College. Transferring to Kean University which was an NJAC Power house in women's basketball at the time, Michel was a member of the 1987 Final Four team.

Coach Powell graduated with a degree in Recreation management. She was a teacher of Physical Education at her high school alma mater for 30 years.

Michel Powell served as Head Women’s Basketball Coach for Essex County College for the 2000-01 though the 2005-06 seasons and has been Head Women’s Basketball Coach for Middlesex College from the 2006-07 season through the present.

Coach Powell has a career total of 413 at the J.U.C.O level.  280 of those wins were during her tenure at Middlesex.   Coach Powell’s teams have won three GSAC Championships:  two at Essex C.C. and  one at Middlesex.  She has coached four Region XIX Runner ups:   Two each at Essex County College and Middlesex College.

She has coached 5 All-Americans and 3 Region XIX Player of the Year.

MC Lady Colts Head Basketball Coach Michel Powell was named Garden State Athletic Conference Coach of the Year 2 times.

Coach Powell was inducted into the Kean University Athletic Hall of Fame.  Class of 2021.
