KOVALEWICH LEADS MIDDLESEX PAST ATLANTIC CAPE IN HOME OPENER

Johanna Kovalewich had 16 kills and Emi Thai registered 24 digs as Middlesex College won it's home opener over Atlantic Cape Community College in four sets.

Adrianna Pellei (Freshman/Sayreville, NJ) and Kilanny Ramos-Adrian (Sophomore /Perth Amboy, NJ) each had 17 service points in the win.

Pellei also capped the win with the final kill of the match off an assist from Ramos-Adrian.

"It was a great way to end the match," said Head Coach Henry Romero. "It was a play we had been discussing to incorporate more often in our matches."

The Colts (2-1) jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, taking the first two sets by scores of 25-9 and 25-10. The Buccaneers (0-1) bounced back to win the third set, 25-20 before Middlesex rallied for a 25-5 fourth-set clincher.

"I really can't say enough about how these players all contribute in one way or another when they're on the court," said Romero. "It was a great team effort."

Isabella Shields (Freshman/Old Bridge, NJ) had ten service points, four aces, four digs and five kills in an all-around effort.

Middlsex College returns to action Wednesday night at home against Bergen Community College. Tipoff is set for 6pm.
