ATLANTIC CAPE SWEEPS MIDDLESEX WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL, 3-0
Middlesex College Women's Volleyball jumped out to early leads in the first two sets, but Atlantic Cape proved to be too much for the Colts.
Atlantic Cape (5-3) swept Middlesex (1-4) by scores of 25-23, 25-26 and 25-13.
In the first set, Middlesex jumped out to a 7-2 lead and then extended the lead to 12-7 before the Buccaneers stormed back. Atlantic Cape finally caught the Colts to tie the set at 13. Middlesex took the lead back on a kill from Julia Milevoi (Freshman/Woodbridge, NJ) to make the score 17-16 and then after a 17-17 tie, the Colts pulled ahead again on an unforced error.
However, the Buccaneers went on an 8-5 run to win a close first set.
In the second set, Middlesex again jumped out to a 5-2 lead, but a 15-5 run by Atlantic Cape gave the Buccaneers a comfortable lead that they would not relinquish.
Set three saw Atlantic Cape take an early lead that they were able to hold on to for the duration of the set. The Colts were able to get within one point at 8-7, but the Buccaneers outscored the Colts 17-6 from there to nail down the sweep.
Middlesex returns to action on Saturday when they have a tri-match at Passaic County College. They will face Passaic at 10:00AM and then square off against Ocean at 12:00pm.
