MIDDLESEX COLLEGE EXTENDS WINNING STREAK TO 5 BY TAKING TWO FROM BERGEN CC

Middlesex College Baseball continued their hot end to March as the Colts took two games from Bergen CC.

Middlesex won 9-2 at Bergen on Wednesday and then followed up by taking the second game from the Bulldogs at home the next day 15-4.

The Colts have now won 5 in a row and 9 of their last 11 games and are 13-5 overall on the season.

In the series opener, Middlesex fell behind 1-0 early, but put up 4 runs in the top of the fourth to take a lead they would not relinquish. The Colts scored 2 more runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

Ryan Acquisto had a big day at the plate for the Colts going 3-6 with 2 runs and an RBI. Chase Trolaro and John Oranchak had 2 hits apiece and Trolaro, Oranchak and Jaime Tamayo drove in 2 runs apiece for the Colts.

Freshman James Kehoe picked up the win in his first collegiate start, going 6 innings while allowing just one earned run. The righty struck out 8 Bulldogs and allowed just 5 hits. Anthony Singh came on to pitch the final 3 innings and picked up his first career save in the process.

In the second game of the series, Middlesex jumped out to a 2-1 lead through the first two innings and then broke the game open by scoring 8 runs in the bottom of the third. The Colts added another run in the fourth and two more in the fifth on the way to a 13-5 victory.

Stanley Bobadilla led the offense this game for the Colts, notching 3 hits, with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. Tamayo also added 3 hits while driving home 3 runs for Middlesex.

Michael Ramirez and Acquisto each had 3 RBIs in the win for Middlesex as well.

The third game of the series will be played on April 15.

Middlesex returns to action Friday to begin a big three-game series against Brookdale CC, currently the #10 ranked team in the country. Middlesex will host the series opener with first pitch scheduled for 3:30PM.
